One of the perks of working for M.A.C. is getting all the info about new collections in advance and sometimes, even getting some products along the way. The Electric Wonder limited edition collection we\’ve gotten in store a few weeks ago is one of the most beautiful I\’ve seen from M.A.C. so far and I\’m happy I was able to win the face palette in the collection in a in-store challenge – now I can tell you all about it !
Look at this packaging – marble and golden lightning, I could hardly not fall in love with it, right ? I\’m not a big fan of the collection in a whole ; two nude eyeshadow palettes (one cool-toned, one warm-toned), two highlighting powders/illuminating bronzers aka UFOs of the collection, two matte bronzers, one brush, a face palette and five lipsticks. Now there is a lipstick I really wanted to get in the collection called Feelin\’ Sedimental and up till now haven\’t been able to bring myself to it because aside from the great Satin finish (love my Satins from MAC), the color bears too close a resemblance to my beloved Blankety I will bring myself to review soon.
But I won this face palette called Ignite Wonder in a challenge and come to think of it, I think I couldn\’t have won a better product. I didn\’t think it possible but after about 9 months in the company, I\’m actually starting to run out of things to want in the store – almost. Can\’t never say that for sure since there are always new ways to use something you thought basic.
The Ignite Wonder face palette is described as a six-highlighter palette made of cream-like powders made for all skintones. In my opinion, it\’s rather made for fair to medium skintones if you\’re aiming at using it for your face, as what are black people going to do with the first two highlighters up left ? As I\’m NC20 in MAC, aka rather fair, I can use all the shades but the colors that really appeal to me are the two ones in the lower right bottom corner, the coppery and pink/purplish shades that work really well as blushes.
The cream-like texture is similar to the one in the Hyper Real Glow highlighting palettes, very powdery but when you finally get the hang of it, you\’ll understand you need only a teeny tiny bit of product that makes you look like you\’ve got that healthy glow – as if you\’re perspiring highlight. The result is really, really cool – not THAT blinding but definitely visible and really pretty. Everytime I\’ve work this, I\’ve been very happy with the result, especially since the powders have a great lasting power, at least under neons all day when you\’re rushing to help customers here and there…!
