It\’s funny how I can make makeup orders of several hundred euros without blinking an eye but I will always be pondering over whether to get a 20-ish-euro palette. Maybe deep down I\’m thinking it won\’t be any good since it\’s so cheap, when I should know better, being a makeup artist, right ?
Actually, it\’s not the fact that it\’s very cheap since I buy makeup under a tenner all the time. It\’s the fact that it\’s \”middle-priced\” that makes me wonder about the quality. Which is why I waited a long, long time before getting the Blacklight highlight palette from BH Cosmetics that I had on my radar.
BH Cosmetics advise us to apply the \”ethereal, iridescent shimmers\” individually or layer them – to be honest, I\’ve only ever used the shadows by themselves and I loved how all my looks turned out when I used them.
When I first got the palette, I was very surprised with how big the pans were – you\’ve never seen that before. Huge, huge pans that I will personally never finish even if I use them on both my models and myself, all of this beauty for $16. A nice catch.
In that highlighting palette range, you can find this Blacklight palette on the colorful side and a Spotlight palette with more neutral colors for the same price, although the Blacklight palette is often discounted be it on the BH Cosmetics website or on Beautybay. In the Blacklight one, there\’s a very light, cool-toned golden, a green, a turquoise blue, a white, a purple-ish pink and the last one looks pink but it\’s actually a really cool-toned purple mixed with blue.
I am in love with the texture of the highlighters, they\’re quite thick but blend super well, meaning you need only a teeny tiny bit of them to make your point. I\’ve worn them plenty of times at work and under the neons and with the hotness of the store, they still didn\’t budge or fade at all during the day and I always had a ton of compliments when I wore them !
