While I was writing this post, I listened to I Like It by Cardi B, Bad Bunny & J Balvin. Try it !
Let me tell you one thing right away : I\’m crazy about this palette. At the time I\’m writing, it doesn\’t look as beautiful as on the pictures anymore – by far. I\’ve kept it in that state for several months and then decided to depot it because I thought it would take much less room in my makeup suitcase. Not only that. I don\’t remember what I did but somehow I broke the huge and beautiful mirror inside and as they were pieces of glass in the lipsticks so I needed to get them the hell out of there asap. I just couldn\’t throw my baby away.
Here\’s to one of my very favorite lipstick palettes, one of the best you could ever get whether you\’re a pro makeup artist or want to use it on yourself. I\’ve had the Anastasia Lip Palette for a very long time now, maybe two years but I\’ve only started using it for the past two or three photoshoots and although I love it dearly, I have to pay my tributes to the De\’Lanci Multishade Matte Lip Palette which has served me well over the past months and which quality is absolutely outstanding.
There\’s not much info on the Internet about this palette. I\’ve first come across it on Amazon when I was looking for yet another lipstick palette I didn\’t need and what striked me first was the variety of shades in the palette. I basically love any kind of lipstick palette since it involves what I like most in makeup, lipstick and having several shades of something in one place, but if you include both wearable and weird colors, I\’m your man.
It\’s cruelty free, made in China (the 2012-established brand is based in Hong Kong) and holds 25 grams of lipstick, so there\’s 1 gram per lip color since there are 25 lipstick shades in this palette. It doesn\’t seem like a lot of product but it is and I paid much less than €20 for this baby so I don\’t mind about that, and no one expects to have a full 3-gram lipstick in a small pan, right ? I bought mine from Amazon but I\’m not sure it\’s still in stock, anyway if it\’s not you can still buy it off the official De\’Lanci website for $23.99 – still a very reasonable price. It\’s not that big of a palette but still feels really sturdy and trustworthy which is also why I took it everywhere with my during my first months of photoshooting and I really need to use it more even though I now have plenty other homemade lipstick palettes.
This baby deserves to be famous all over the place. I don\’t even understand why it hasn\’t been more reviewed and raved about ! The palette is compact, the pans are generously-sized and the lipsticks are truly matte as advertised and my God, that pigmentation
. You can see the pigmentation on those swatches. Three or four lip colors are a bit less pigmented than the others and those are the usually hard ones to make ; the yellow, the white and one pinkish shade have less impact but they\’ve still a whole fuc*ing lot of punch and presence when applied over a same-color lipliner (which I always do and which you should if you\’re going to use this).
What I also really love about this palette is that De\’Lanci never advertised it as being the dupe of something-something : this palette was advertised as having a true identity, the mix of colors is well-thought and boy, 25 colors is enough to make me cry with happiness. You\’ve got everything ; some really light nudes and some darker, every shade of red you might want (warm and cool-toned !), some muted pinks and browns and oranges and some brights like purple, orange, yellow or green. Now, even though De\’Lanci has kept a true personality for this palette, I can definitely see some dupes of M.A.C. Matte Lipsticks like Honeylove, Kinda Sexy, Heroine, Relentlessly Red, So Chaud, Velvet Teddy, Lavender Jade and Diva. Some might not be exactly the same but we\’re pretty close.
I have made some really pretty looks with this palette on photoshoots and I\’m considering buying a brand new one since I think my depotted pans look really tacky in my Z Palette. Some of the pink and red shades do leave a stain on your lips, I\’m not bothered since I\’m used to red staining the eyes and the lips but this palette can also be used for facepainting so be sure to use a good face cream, primer and foundation if you want to use these shades that way ! I think it\’s very cool of De\’Lanci to have thought of a multiuse product : there was a time I wouldn\’t have minded to carry a twenty-pound makeup suitcase but I\’m trying to protect my back now, so having a multiuse product in my stash is lovely. I also often use matte lipstick as blusher so since I\’m all for orange and nude blush these days, I\’ve got plenty cool shades to do it ! Just give it a try
if you\’re a makeup fiend – you\’ll love it !
Are you a big fan of lipstick palettes ? Have you ever tried this one ? x
