I try to pay much attention to what I eat because I want to be healthy and I want to make my body fat decrease and my muscles pop out. So, I eat very clean during the week, I count the calories I eat, track my food and macros – that is important for me to know that my work is bringing me results. Once a week (sometimes twice when I\’ve restrained myself a bit too much – but I try not to curb my cravings anymore and eat a bit of everything, especially chocolate which is the love of my life), I eat out. I try to discover new places but when I\’ve got \”only\” four treat meals per month (yup, I don\’t call them \”cheat meals\”) and hate to be disappointed in something I eat, I don\’t try new places all that often.
Discovering Homer – All About Lobster
There\’s this TV show that airs on Saturday and Sunday mornings over here in France called \”Très très bon\” (Very Very Good) in which you can see chefs cooking and discovering new restaurants and places and products and I love cooking shows so much that on Sundays, as I\’m off work, I\’m in my bed having breakfast before this show that makes me drool. And that is where I learned about the restaurant Homer – All about Lobster in Paris.
I went to this place one day after work, eager to discover what the \”Best Lobster Roll in the World 2018\” had to offer. A small place in the Rue Rambuteau in the Marais, cosy, warm, lovely. The boss greets us warmly and explains the menus – he asks every single person that enters the restaurant if they know lobster rolls and if they don\’t, he\’ll take time to explains what it is. Such a nice man, I could feel he loves his job and believes in his food and project. And that is the kind of person who must be rewarded for their dedication.
Homer | All About Lobster – What I ate
I asked for the lobster roll that had been featured in the Très très bon show which turned out to be called the \”Connecticut\” lobster roll, made with lobster, homemade mayonnaise, lukewarm butter with lemon and secret herbs. It was my first time ever eating lobster and I was pleasantly surprised even though my palate didn\’t recognize all the different flavors of the things I was eating. The brioche was so nice, slightly toasted and melting in my mouth and the lobster was so fresh and tender… I just wanted more when I was done with it. I chose a menu which included a beverage and a dessert or starter so I got a bottle of water and a homemade Kinder Maxi cookie – you know me, I can\’t resist chocolate… That cookie was absolutely amazing as well, chewy and tasty and sugary as I like my cookies to be.
Aside from the menu, I got homemade wasabi crisps that I had much trouble finishing (I don\’t think I even did !) because they were so spicy – so crispy as well, yum… and a Grilled Cheese with pickles which is actually a high-class Croque Monsieur – my second favorite dish in the restaurant. I loved how strong the cheese tasted, how toasty the brioche was, well, you can see what I mean from the pictures. It\’s very fine dining, very chic-tasting while being a quick eat – perfect balance. Just looking at the pictures again makes my mouth watery af.
If my memory serves me right, I think the XL menu (90g of lobster instead of 65 for a regular roll) cost something around €20, the Grilled Cheese was €5 and the cookie was €3 so if you\’re as greedy as me, that\’s how much it\’s going to cost to taste the World\’s Best Lobster Roll – just give it a try if you\’re curious, it\’s going to leave you craving for more !
Have you ever eaten a lobster roll ? What are your favorite restaurants ? x
