I love nail art but given I\’m not especially talented with brushes and tiny patterns which almost always become huge nothings on my nails, I prefer using stamping techniques to get professional-looking nails. It\’s easy : apply some nail polish to the plate, scrape the excess off and pick up the image with a stamp before applying it to the nail.
I love everything that\’s a bit offbeat and quirky so when I caught sight of the MoYou London Hipster Collection on the Ledouxnuage website, I \”knew I had to have\” some of these plates. Other people obviously had had to have those before me since there were only three models availables on the website (today they\’re definitely sold out on Ledouxnuage).
Fortunately, the available plates all had small images (in each MoYou collection, there are plates with small and plates with larger images which I don\’t like because large images look like abstract stampings on my nails). And so I bought the plates 01, 02 and 03 from the oh so stylish Hipster Collection.
Each plate comes in its own branded sleeve and the Hipster one is really cute. I\’d have loved more checked patterns but the drawing is really fine. I love getting my plates in their sleeves – it\’s like it\’s a gift or a surprise and they\’re really convenient too with the slot on the right letting the number of the plate see.
MoYou London Hipster Collection – Stamping Plate #01
My three plates have something in common : there\’s a larger image in the center showing two hipster-themed characters. I love having a choice and those plates are perfect for me : there are words, symbols, shoes, skateboards, beards…
MoYou London Hipster Collection – Stamping Plate #02
This one is my very favorite : I love the sushi images, the iPhone, the Starbucks-like coffee, the lipstick and the lollipop, the smartphone icons… I feel this is the one I can use everyday given how varied the images are.

On the third plate, there\’s a diamond, a cassette, a man with a cool hat and sweater, Polaroid photographs… This is the one I like the least because I feel I will not use the images as much as the second plate – yet, if I want a brit or glamorous diamond manicure, this will be of great help. Once again, there is a variety of images that I am fond of.
I\’ve created a quick manicure with the feather image from the first Hipster stamping plate : I am aware some pics are more \”hipster\” to illustrate this collection but I am thinking of creating many manis with these plates so I\’ll have plenty of time to create more elaborate manicures.
I\’ve used Cien\’s Vintage Mauve nail lacquer as a base and I tried to create a watercolor pattern with the feathers – that didn\’t work out too well, at least for the orange feather.
I love the MoYou London plates – the small patterns are all set in categories and can be hijacked into other styles and different-themed manicures.
Each plate costs €6.90 – how am I going to do given I love all the plates and new collections are released so often ?
Do you know the MoYou London stamping plates ? Do you have some or do you prefer some plates from other brands ?
